Reptar Bar Recipe
Before the days of Jersey Shore and Teen Mom we all had our favorite TV shows from the 90's. Sometimes we forget about them but when we remember it always takes us back to a happy place when all we had to do was watch these shows and all the stress of homework and jobs weren't an issue. Every week I will share one of my favorites and hopefully they are some of yours as well.

Rugrats
Halt I am Reptar! I loved Rugrats! It showed the inside of every kid's imagination. Things like breaking out of the play pen became a 007 mission. The weird thing is that I think we were all watching Rugrats even way past when we were babies, maybe because there's always that part of us that never really grows up. I think the shows like that are the best which is why I would definitely buy all the episodes of Rugrats to show my children instead of having them watch the junk that plays on Nickelodeon now. Rugrats is just irreplaceable. I can remember when I was being grumpy my mom would call me Angelica...and sometimes Helga (Hey Arnold). Anyone else think that Angelica's doll, Cynthia, was super creepy with the patches of hair and what not? Also, who didn't want a Reptar Bar? Chocolate with bright green goo in the middle that turned your tongue green, sounds amazing right? I found a recipe for the Reptar Bars. It has pecans in it which I do not like so I may not be testing the recipe out. Although I could try the recipe without the nuts. I'll attach the link to the recipe and if anyone tries it out let me know! In case you didn't know you can find some full episodes of Rugrats on Youtube and I think there are some on Netflix too! Just in case you need to take a break from growing up :)

I LOVED Rugrats! One might say I was obsessed with the show. At one point I had a pet toad that I named Angelica. I even had several Rugrat videogames.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite episodes was the time Chuckie swallowed a watermellon seed and the babies had to travel inside his body to retrieve it before it sprouted. I was a bit scared to swallow seeds for a while after that.
But one thing that I really like about Rugrats is that, in retrospect, it emphasized the value of friendship as well as innocent curiosity. I thoroughly enjoyed going on adventures with the babies.
That was a good episode and I was also scared to swallow a seed! It didn't help that my grandparents told me that it really would happen...
DeleteThey are on Netflix! It's a great show to fall asleep too after a long night of big-kid stuff, instead of something like Law & Order or anything on AMC.
ReplyDeleteFun Fact: Tommy Pickles and I share the same birthday, August 11.
Did you ever have a Rugrats themed birthday party?
DeleteI actually was just watching the Rugrats movie (the one where dill is born) on Netflix with my niece. The great thing about the show and the movies is it still holds up today even when i'm in college. Few shows do that.
ReplyDeleteRugrats was one of my favorite shows as a kid. It's still a good cartoon, especially compared to some of the stuff that we see today. I actually just watched the 2nd movie a few weeks ago, when it was on TV. While I thought older Rugrats was the best, it still was really entertaining.
